Founded in 1891, the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) is the national forum and voice of the evolving electricity business in Canada. The Association's corporate utility member companies account for about 95% of Canada's installed generating capacity. The Canadian Nuclear Society-Société Nucléaire Canadienne (CNS-SNC) was established in 1979 as "the technical society of the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA)" and became an independent federal, not-for-profit corporation in 1998. The CNS is dedicated to the exchange of information in the field of applied nuclear science and technology. This encompasses all aspects of nuclear energy, uranium, fission and other nuclear technologies, such as occupational and environmental protection, medical diagnosis and treatment, the use of radioisotopes, and food preservation.

Created in 1920, New Brunswick Power provides electricity to some 340,000 direct and indirect customers in the province, through its network of hydro, coal, oil, Orimulsion and diesel-powered facilities, as well as through its CANDU-6 reactor at the Point Lepreau Generating Station. The Point Lepreau station supplies up to 30% of New Brunswick's power generation. As exporter, earner investor and taxpayer, NB Power plays a key role in the economic activity of the province.
